Social and Recreational Activities
April 13, 2022
The next piece of our balanced-living-pie is our biggest piece: Social and Recreational. Many activities in this area overlap with other areas, but this area by itself is of vital importance for a balanced life. It is even more vital for individuals with autism as it is one of three areas of deficit in this disorder. Social skills are hard to develop for individuals with autism and without practice, they are impossible to maintain. One of our best resources for social opportunities is all of the libraries in central Ohio.
Columbus Metropolitan Library – 23 branches across central Ohio give us plenty of libraries to explore. In addition to books and periodicals for check out, these libraries all offer computers and printing, reading areas, study areas and activities.
While 23 branches give us a lot of libraries to choose from, a library card for the Columbus Metropolitan Library can also be used at their partner library systems, many of which have more than one location:
Bexley Public Library
Delaware County District Library
Fairfield County District Library
Grandview Heights Public Library
Granville Public Library
Marysville Public Library
Pickaway County Library
Pickerington Public Library
Plain City Public Library
Southwest Public Libraries
Upper Arlington Public Library
